REFLECTOR: Rear window

Al,
I might try using a router from the inside. I bought the small one from
Harbor Freight. It would be tedious, but I think you could get the depth
set right. It might work better with the Dremel version. It would handle
the curve of the fuselage better. It would be messy, but it's probably
going to make a mess no matter how you do it.
Goofy thought . since you are replacing the window, you could make some type
of buildup on the inside of the current window that would allow the router
to ride evenly. That way you wouldn't have to worry about it tipping to the
inside. Just going to throw it out anyway.
Do you have a picture?
Andy

Al,
I replaced both rear windows. I tried but could not separate the window from
the skin. (Epoxy bond was too good). In my case it required surgery and use
of some special wax sheets, but I had some help. The new windows look better
than the old. If you'd like all the details, give me a call.

Has anyone had occasion to replace a rear window?
I'm wondering if it is possible to remove it from the inside without messing
up the exterior paint. If the inner plys and micro flange are ground away,
can the alphapoxy bond between the plexiglass and the fiberglass outer skin
be separated?
Thanks,
Al
