REFLECTOR: AP1 Auto Pilot

Lou,

I have one of these in my Velocity, but I never use the AP feature. I was told by the builder that the AP was never configured to use the Apollo 360 GPS as it's output values were twice what the unit expected in it's default configuration. I was also told that this could be changed. The wing leveler works well.

Subject: REFLECTOR: AP1 Auto Pilot

Any of you guys out there know anything about a
Navaid AP1 auto pilot? Let me fill you in on my problem. When I purchased
my Vel, the auto pilot was not working. Recently, I removed it and returned it
to Navaid. They replaced the gyro and returned it to me. I installed it and
found that the wing leveler now worked well but it would not track the GPS or
VOR. I took it into my avionics shop and they discovered that my KX155 GPS was
not configured right. I had too large an area of swing. We set it for three
tenths of a mile and it worked. I flew it back to my airport, about a half hour
flight and it was tracking great. About twenty minutes into the flight my
aircraft started a slow left turn off the gps course and it now does not work.
Both wing leveler and course tracking are not working. Any thoughts. The
gyro sounds like it is working. I know Navaid is no longer in business and
I probably will have to look for another one but I just wanted to ask the
experts before I spend my hard earned money.
