sounds good. I a 12v lamp on the panel connected to "L" terminal 2, a 4 guage wire to batt from alt. lug, and a "S" wire from I dont know where. I was going to replace the molex connector on the back of the alt. and connect the sense wire through the split master switch and then directly to the batt. Is this the correct way for this type of application? thanx for all of the postings... Jeff

The alternator puts out AC voltagewhich is rectified by three high amperage diodes into ~ 13.8 volts DC.If the alternator is an internally regulated. The alternator should have two male spade terminals and a bolt and nut terminal. The bolt terminal goes to the battery, the "L' or "2' terminal goes to one side of your12 volt charge indicator lamp, the other side of the lamp goes to your 12 voltsource when the master is turned on. The "S' terminal is connected througha smaller gauge wire to any master on 12 volt source. (Some may be labeled differently)I use a small resistor in parallel with the indicator lamp, so if the lamp blows,I'll still have excitation voltage to the alternator. If the cooling fins are located inside and to the rear of the alternator, the bladesare usually straight so cooling will be accomplished with either left or right rotation.Hope this helps,

I am having problems with my alternator not charging my batt... I took it to 3 stores to test it and it tested good. I am running a left hand franklin and the alt. spins clockwise looking at the alt. from the front (pully) side. witch direction should the alt. spin and what does the sense wire from the alt. get hooked up to? thanx Jeff > From: hoffman3 at erols.com> To: reflector at tvbf.org> Date: Wed, 19 Nov 2008 12:52:30 -0500> Subject: Re: REFLECTOR: Franklin Alternator> > I believe it was 1986.> > ---- Original message ----> >Date: Wed, 19 Nov 2008 10:53:37 -0500> >From: "Michael Watson" <mikewatsspg at gmail.com> > >Subject: Re: REFLECTOR: Franklin Alternator > >To: "Velocity Aircraft Owners and Builders list" <reflector at tvbf.org>> >> > Carl,> >> > What year Mazda B2300.
